I was reminiscing about our first trip to Disney as a family. I was 24 years old, carrying around a 16-month-old and 4 months pregnant. I know, it’s one of those things you look back on and wonder “what in the world was I thinking”? Anyways, as soon as we walked into our hotel, we were approached by two nice men that offered us free Disney Safari tickets, heck ya!!All we had to do was go listen to a quick presentation. They didn’t tell us that would be followed by a serious one on one conversation with the person determined never to accept "No" for an answer. He told us all the reasons we absolutely had to have a timeshare, completely ignoring the 100 times we said we could never afford that. He took out every aggressive technique in the book. He started with the hard sales, moved to emotional manipulations and then back to the pressure points. Many of us are here selling a product or service, but how we get our business defines our brand. If that salesman would have started with getting to know us and where we were positioned as a family, he still would not have convinced us to purchase a time share, but I would not have a nasty taste in my mouth every time I heard the word. A good sales person is not the one who won’t take no for an answer, it is the one who makes you feel like they truly care about your needs and if it is not the right fit, they still leave you feeling like you want to share your experience you had with them, and maybe even come back to them at a better time. For my recruiter friends – don’t be that pushy salesman who gives us a bad name. And for all my friends in sales – build a strong reputation of your brand and the business will come.

My amazingly talented colleague, Sean, truly was a Disney star! ⭐ Now, I don't mean he was in a Disney movie (though could've been) or dressed in character at the parks.No.A different kind of star. Someone who dedicated his time, efforts and talents to offering, or, 'creating' Disney experiences and magical memories to families. He's right when he says experiences and expectations have not changed.Granted, business customers may not be looking for *fairytale magic* nowadays (I may be, but that’s beside the point).BUT they're still looking for... ~Effortless, Delightful and Memorable interactionsThat make their life...~Easier, Better and more FulfillingWhat always impresses me is how Disney operates when it comes to expectations for employees, or 'cast members'.Everyone, even the park custodians, are trained as cast members. Why?Because Disney KNEW that superb experiences are all about consistency and attention to detail. Each component of the Disneyland/Disneyworld operation, or 'experience', was carefully planned and thought out to create one cohesive, unparalleled, world-famous Disney experience. Thanks for sharing Sean. Love your Disney stories.Dear Network...--What are your opinions on Disney experiences?--Was your first job in the same industry you are now?--If you've been to a Disney park, would you say it's a distinct experience compared to other theme parks?P.S. I LOVE the iconic Disney font on the name badge!!!#customerservice #experiences #disneycast #loveyourcareer The Walt Disney Company

You know when you're so busy and so much goodness is happening that you don't even have time to stop and celebrate? That's where I've been at. This quarter has been transformational for Captivate and like no other quarter we have seen in our still new story. I'm blown away by the amount of amazing projects we get to be a part of - connecting organizations to their customers and seeing this essential partnership thrive. Here are the some of the things that I think have brought us to where we are today: * The clients who keep putting their trust in us again and again. We see you and value you. I'm so humbled by this. Ongoing customer relationships are changing our business. * An amazing team who brings 100% to the table. I've seen team members grow in amazing ways as they are pushed in this startup environment. And sometimes we've also just gotten damn lucky with our hiring. 👈🏻 Truth.* Partners and ongoing supporters who love to collaborate - to explore what is going on in this space and how we can be more impactful together. Who love geeking out about the practice as much as we do. I love love love this aspect of my work. * Not being satisfied with the status quo. From day one of starting Captivate with Deena, we agreed we would be bored to tears if we ever felt like we were just doing what was standard for everyone else. We've tried to live this value in our branding, our strategy deliverables, customer program execution, and how we show up. It's not always easy, but it's rewarding. And also just keeps us from getting bored. 😂 All this to say THANK YOU to everyone who has been part of Captivate's journey. I truly, truly value every person who has been a part of it. Here's to year 5!

This past weekend we did Magic Kingdom at Disneyworld...with 14 people...and we had fun. We also managed to coordinate everyone well. Got me thinking of what made us successful...🧞♂️ Genie+ - not gonna lie, we ⬆️ leveled our tickets. Sometimes for premium support (kind of like for enterprise customer support) you have to pay more. Lesson #1- you pay for what you get- which can be applied to many things and models, and especially CS. 📱 Communication- we were all checking in with each other, ensuring everyone was accounted for all day. It was everything from lunch orders to waiting in line. Lesson #2 - Many times, over communication can be better than under. ✅ Planning and iterating- we had a basic plan, we then iterated around details. It would have been impossible to "stick to a script" with all the variables present- ride lines, time of day, toddlers, etc., but the base plan was solid. Lesson #3- Plan for the big things, iterate around the small things. 🔀 Goals may change - at the end of the day, a few people wanted to go home, others to shop, and others to space mountain. And it was ok- as time went on, our goals changed. We had achieved the main objectives of the day- so it was ok. Lesson #4- understand that time may have an impact on what matters, so stay in the present when it comes to that.Let me know how these lessons resonate in your #customersuccess work, other engagement or on your next theme park vaca!

This month we are spotlighting team member Josh Dolezal! Josh is a Project Manager with our National Sign and Facility Services Department. We asked Josh; What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time?I enjoy working out, playing video games, and taking care of my plants and dogs. My job usually requires me to sit in front of the computer for long periods of time, so I try to stay as active as possible in my free time. What do you like most about your role at NAS?Customer service is important to me, so I love providing our clients with the best service possible. Building a trusting #relationship with our partners so that they know we can handle all their complex requests is very rewarding. What has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?My training at NAS has taught me how to better #communicate with people and understand their perspectives. Whether I’m talking to a client or a tech, I try to get to know them and their needs so that I can determine the best way to communicate and support them as we work together. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in our industry?Always ask questions. The more you understand, the more you can figure out in the future. There is so much experience in this industry, and most people will gladly help you, but you need to ask!Josh, thank you for your passion and #dedication to customer service! #spotlight #appreciate #teamwork #ThankYou #signindustry

Finding My Groove Beyond the Applause …Hey folks! 🎤✍️ As someone juggling tunes and texts, I recently hit a weird note — lately I’ve been getting a massive pang of fear every time I even think about client work. You know the feeling … like you swallowed a rock and it just crashed into the pit of your stomach. And it wasn't so much being nervous about deadlines … but rather about whether my clients would like me and what I produce. Why would I ever want to write or sing again if being creative makes me this uncomfortable? Honestly, I was hunting for my worth in their applause. Waiting on the edge of my seat to see which direction their thumb would point.Okay, so here's where the plot twisted today: I realize I don't need anyone’s approval to know my value. I've lived, I've learned, and I love what I do. Whether it’s in front of an audience or staring at my screen. That's where my worth is — at the heart of my passion and hard work. So, I'm changing my tune. I'm chasing excellence now … reminding myself when that fear pangs, I’m not looking for my worth there anyway. It's about honing my craft, serving my clients with everything I've got, and trying to inspire people I meet.To anyone feeling stuck on the approval carousel, remember this:Your worth isn't in the applause.👏 🚫 👏 🚫 👏 🚫Your worth is in your passion, your journey, and how you treat others. If you’ve already found your worth, continue what you’re doing to become the best version of yourself. ❤️And if you haven’t found your worth yet – and you still seem to be looking for it in the direction of other people’s thumbs – then chase after becoming excellent. If your worth is tied to whether you land this job, or get that book published, or partner with your dream client, then you’ll always be disappointed. But if you let excellence be your goal, you’ll always know your worth, no matter where life takes you. Let's aim for that and rock our worlds. 🌟Let me know what you've done to find your worth despite the fear! ❤️ #ChaseExcellence #KnowYourWorth
