Whipped Greek Yogurt
Now there is whipped yogurt you can buy at the grocery store, but it is always filled with so much added sugar I never would buy it even though it is amazing. So I had never thought of making it at home until I saw my friend Danielle from Project Meal Plan make Homemade Whipped Greek Yogurt and I thought it was the most brilliant thing ever.
So when my friends over at Barlean’s challenged me to make something with with their Seriously Delicious CBD Lemon Drop Hemp Oil, I instantly thought it would be the perfect match…
And guess what?
It is! (was…)
NOTE: Update in spring of 2023 Barlean’s appears to no longer carry the Lemon Drop Flavor of their CBD Hemp Oil. It was perfect in this recipe but alas we must move on...
Of course you can make this by leaving out the Lemon Drop CBD, it is still equally as delicious, I promise!
If you are looking for some added benefits and this works even if you have young children I also used Barlean’s Omega Pals Lemonade Fish Oil instead to help them get a healthy dose of Omega-3’s in for the day! This product still is available.
So how do you make Whipped Greek Yogurt?
It’s quite easy! For this recipe you will need a stand mixer or an electric handheld mixer, the mixer will do all the hard work and get the greek yogurt light and airy fast!
To make the lemon whipped greek yogurt you will start with one whole lemon.
Zest the lemon into bowl of stand mixer (or large bowl with handheld mixer).
Cut the lemon in half and juice half of the lemon into the bowl. The amount of juice should be roughly 2 tablespoons. Set aside other half for another use (make yourself a glass of ice cold lemon water).
Next add greek yogurt, honey, heavy whipping cream, and the lemon drop CBD into the stand mixer.
With whisk attachment start stand mixer on low for about 10 to 15 seconds to prevent too much splashing while the ingredients mix together.
Slowly turn mixer to medium-high level (8 on a kitchen-aid). Continue to whisk for several minutes until peaks start to form in the yogurt, aka until the yogurt is fluffy and airy.
Transfer your lemon whipped greek yogurt to bowls. Best served topped with a handful of fresh berries.

Note: This recipe originally used Barlean's Lemon Drop CBD Hemp Oil. I am updating this recipe by removing it because this product no longer appears to be available for purchase. The original recipe called for 1 teaspoon Barlean's Lemon Drop CBD Hemp Oil. (I promise the recipe is still amazing without it)

It's thicker than heavy cream, but you can add milk to thin it out and achieve a texture similar to that of heavy cream. Blend together equal parts Greek yogurt and whole milk and use it in place of the same amount of heavy cream.
Low-fat Greek yogurt contains twice as much satiating protein as traditional yogurt, which can keep you feeling fuller longer and control appetite. That can translate to less belly fat. Also, yogurt is rich in calcium and research has linked calcium to lower levels of abdominal fat.
Yogurt is rich in nutrients and may boost your health when consumed regularly. It also may help reduce the risk of some diseases while also benefiting digestive health and weight management.
Despite its protein content, eating Greek yogurt alone is unlikely to make a person burn more calories. But eating Greek yogurt, as part of a balanced diet that includes enough protein, fibrous carbohydrates, and healthful fats may aid weight loss and boost metabolism.
Two things to look for in healthy yogurt toppings: fiber and protein, says nutritionist Maggie Michalczyk, RDN. (Fruits, nuts, and seeds are always a great place to start.)
Greek yogurt is a fantastic alternative for a pre-bedtime snack for weight loss. High in Protein and low calories make it a filling alternative for better sleep. Furthermore, Greek yogurt includes tryptophan, an amino acid that aids in relaxing and sleep quality.
Whipping Cream- As mentioned, this ingredient is optional but aids in a fluffy consistency for the whipped yogurt. If you need substitutes, try coconut milk or full fat milk.
How to Use Whipped Greek Yogurt. It can be used right away as a topping, dolloped over French toast or crispy waffles if you're into the breakfast-for-dessert thing, or else refrigerated overnight until it thickens into something like a parfait.
Similarly to half-and-half, milk makes a good heavy cream substitute when it's combined with melted butter. Combine 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup melted butter for every cup of heavy cream. This mixture is not suitable for whipping.
Greek yogurt can contain twice as much protein per serving as regular yogurt. Protein is an important part of a healthy diet and helps keep you fuller longer. If either type of yogurt has added fruits or toppings, the sugar content can be higher than normal, but typically, Greek yogurt is lower in sugar and carbs.
Use the whisk attachment if using a stand mixer. Add confectioner's sugar and beat until smooth and well combined, stopping to scrape down side of bowl as needed. ADD yogurt and beat for a minute or two longer until mixture is smooth and fluffy, scraping bowl again. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Since lemons are a source of vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, eating lemons with yoghurt (Curd) has more advantages than yoghurt alone. Collagen, a type of structural protein that is prevalent in skin, is made possible by vitamin C.
Yes, absolutely. Just the lemon juice and yogurt (greek yogurt) makes a nice dressing for lamb or other meats. You could also try to add some fresh or dried mint to further enhance the flavor. Adding almost anything to yogurt works well.
Add lemon juice to the yogurt a little at a time, tasting as you go until the flavor seems right. You can add as much as 2 tablespoons of lemon juice per cup of Greek yogurt, but it's best to work up to that slowly; you can always add more. A pinch of salt is optional.
Another helpful tip is looking for a low-sugar yogurt that is also high in protein. Protein has been known to help with weight loss by maintaining a well-functioning metabolism and keeping you full longer, and studies have also found that it can help specifically with abdominal fat, too.
