Flood Donald W. Flood and Lois G. Flood, of Mosinee, formerly of Albany, and Springstead, died as a result of a motorcycle accident in Ironwood Township, Michigan, Saturday, July 17, 1999. Donald, 69, was born December 19, 1929, in Albany Township, the son of William and Alice (Thickpenny) Flood, and died Saturday, July 17, 1999, in Irownwood Township, Mich. He attended English Settlement School, rural Albany, and served in the United States Army unit 9956 TSU SGO, Letterman General Hospital, based at San Francisco, as a Medical Technician from December 30, 1946 and was Honorably discharged as a Corporal on June 11, 1948 receiving the World War II Victory Medal.

Lois, 66, was born December 10, 1932, in Brooklyn Township, the daughter of Otto and Mata (Golz) Gransee, and died Tuesday, July 22, 1999, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minn. She graduated from Evansville High School in 1950 and attended Madison Business College. Donald and Lois were married October 13, 1951, at United Methodist Church, Evansville, Wis. They both worked for Neuendorf Transportation Company, Madison, for many years, then owned and operated Resort at Springstead, from 1978 to 1988.

Don was a self-employed truck driver in lime and gravel before driving for Neuendorf and worked part-time at Charlie's Hardware, Mosinee, and McDonald's in the Wausau area following retirement. Lois worked for Marathon County Social Services, Wausau, after they sold the resort. They were former members of Peace Methodist Church, rural Evansville, Marathon County Hit-and-run, a 21-year-old Merrill man was arrested for hit-and-run after an accident on Highway near Naugert Drive in the town of Maine Thursday morning. The man, who is from South Africa, said he became confused in the fog about which side of the road to drive on and struck another vehicle head on. The other vehicle was driven by a 48-year-old Merrill woman, who sought her own medical treatment.

The woman's husband was uninjured. The 21-year-old man fled the scene on foot and later woke up in a field and told officers he did not know how he got there. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
