Job Description
Associate, Community Relations
About New York Cares
New York Cares exists to turn passion into action, leverage resources through partnership, and create long-lasting change across New York City. We have become the City's leading volunteer management organization by adapting and responding to our most pressing community needs – from everyday challenges like food insecurity and educational inequity to relief efforts in response to 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic. As we grow our team, we are committed to creating a workforce that reflects the communities we serve, and fostering a workplace where every employee feels valued, finds a place of belonging, and brings their authentic self to work.
about the Community relations team
New York Cares’ Community Relations team is critical to meeting the organization’s mission. This team identifies, cultivates, and retains relationships with hundreds of organizations in all five boroughs. The team works with those organizations externally and our design team internally to ensure that the programs our volunteers engage with are driven by the community partner’s priorities. Internally, the team also liaises with our volunteer and corporate engagement teams and our development team to create solutions across departments, centering the impact volunteers can have on our community partners.
About The Associate, community Relations
As an Associate on the Community Relations team, you will hold a portfolio of relationships with nonprofit organizations and schools throughout the city. You will be a part of a team of Associates who meet regularly to consider growth opportunities for our partners, volunteers, team, and organization. This role involves significant interaction with key departments, namely Program Design and Evaluation, Volunteer Relations & Support, and Institutional Relations.
In This Role You Will
- Manage a portfolio of community partners including nonprofits, schools, parks, and other community organizations serving as the expert in those relationships.
- Facilitate strategic meetings with community partners and other external stakeholders to ensure strategic planning of programs to increase volunteer engagement and awareness.
- Communicate in person, on the phone, via virtual meetings, and in writing (email and text) with internal and external stakeholders daily.
- Monitor program processes, data, and evaluation using Salesforce, Excel, and Asana.
- Manage the calendar of internal and external meetings through Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Commute to community partner locations throughout all five boroughs.
- Commute to the New York Cares office at least two days a week (Mondays and Thursdays).
This list is not an exhaustive job description. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
